چکیده

American Family Physician (AFP) continuously strives to keep up with the times and with the needs of our readers. This month, we are proud to announce the debut of our twice-a-month podcast that will highlight key points from each issue of AFP. There’s a good chance you already listen to podcasts. Serial, anyone? This American Life? The format has exploded in recent years. One in three Americans has listened to a podcast, and one in six has listened in the past month. In 2014, there were 2.6 billion podcast downloads.1 Americans hear 21 million hours of podcasts daily.2 Podcasts are an increasingly important resource for disseminating information to the medical community.3,4 We hope that many readers of AFP, the number one journal in primary care, will also become listeners. After all, you can’t read a journal article while you drive to work. In each 15to 20-minute episode of AFP Podcast, we will summarize feature articles and the key evidence-based learning points that may change your practice. We will offer brief summaries of other features, such as POEMs (Patient-Oriented Evidence that Matters), Cochrane for Clinicians, Practice Guidelines, Editorials, and Medicine by the Numbers, and discuss answers to clinical questions from the Family Physicians Inquiries Network. Just like the journal itself, our podcast will keep a tight focus on the practical information family physicians need to take good care of our patients. We will also feature interviews with family physicians about the specialty, share our favorite tweets, and present other regular segments meant to keep the podcast timely, lively, and fun. To create a successful podcast for the top journal in primary care, we need your feedback. You can e-mail us at afppodcast@aafp. org or tweet to @AFPpodcast with comments and ideas. You can listen to or download episodes at www.aafp.org/afppodcast or subscribe on iTunes. We are proud to share AFP in a new way. We hope you will tune in.
